Myth: seedless watermelons are GMO
Seedless watermelons are not genetically modified. They come from ordinary cross-breeding that produces plants which cannot make mature seeds. The soft white specks you sometimes find inside are just empty seed coats.
Mostly water, and related to the cucumber
Watermelon is roughly 90% water, and it is a cousin of cucumbers, pumpkins and squash. It is native to Africa, and was being grown in ancient Egypt thousands of years ago.
