Myth: green grapes are just unripe red grapes
Green and red grapes are different varieties, not different stages of ripeness. The colour comes from the variety (red and black grapes make pigments in their skins that green ones do not). A ripe green grape is simply a sweet, yellow-green one.
Sun-dried grapes are an old idea
People have been drying grapes in the Sun to make raisins for thousands of years, one of the oldest ways of preserving fruit. Sun and sugar is exactly the idea behind a crufiture.
Goes well with
- Soft cheeses such as brie or camembert, on crackers
- Blue cheese and roasted almonds
- Plain yoghurt with pistachios
- Chicken or turkey sandwiches and salads
- A fresh scone with cream
